Eric Voigt, Planning & Zoning Commission
Eric Voigt brings to P&Z an outstanding professional background in land use and environmental law as well as experience in town government. From 2007-09, Eric served as a member of the Darien Representative Town Meeting (RTM), first on the Planning, Zoning and Housing Committee and then on the Public Works Committee.
During his tenure representing District 3 on the RTM, Eric developed a broad understanding of how town bodies, such as the Planning & Zoning Commission, Environmental Protection Commission and the Department of Public Works, interact to produce Darien’s development patterns. He takes a special interest in the impact of Planning & Zoning decisions on flood mitigation and related environmental issues.
Eric is a partner in the law firm Mound Cotton Wollan & Greengrass in New York City, where his practice includes litigation and arbitration of disputes involving insurance and reinsurance. A member of the bar in New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts, he also advises clients on a variety of insurance issues, including product liability and pollution claims. Prior to joining Mound Cotton, Eric worked in the insurance industry as counsel on environmental matters, and he worked for a law firm where he concentrated on cases involving environmental, toxic tort, and product liability issues.
Eric is a graduate of Cook College at Rutgers University. He earned his JD and Master of Studies in Environmental Law at Vermont Law School. A resident of Darien since 2005, Eric lives in Town with his wife Diana and their daughter.
