George A. Reilly, Board of Education
George joined the Board of Education in 2002 to fill a vacancy and was re-elected in 2003, 2006 and 2009. As a member of the Board, George has participated in the full range of decisions, from budget issues to finishing construction of the new Darien High School and Tokeneke Elementary School and from revising the curriculum to hiring key personnel to manage the school system. He serves as Chairman of the Public Information Committee, which oversees the district’s website and coordinates communication between the Board and the various schools. Also as a member of the Policy Committee he has participated in a thorough review and re-organization of the Board’s policies.
As a practicing attorney and business person, George brings to the Board of Education a unique perspective that includes the wider Darien community as well as families with school-age children.
George is a partner in the Stamford law firm Siegel, Reilly and Conlon, LLC which specializes in family law. Since 1984 he has been a member of the Connecticut Bar, practicing in estate planning, real estate and family law. In 2005, George was awarded the "Distinguished Alumnus" award from the Connecticut Chapter of the Fordham Law Alumni Association. In 2001 George received the Connecticut Bar Association's Pro Bono award recognizing his more than ten years of pro bono representation of individuals in family law matters.
George’s civic experience is broad and deep. He served as a member of the Darien Board of Selectmen, 1999-2001, and was a member of the Darien Charter Revision Commission, 1997-1999. He currently serves on the on the boards of Family Centers, Darien Kiwanis Club, and Darien Rowayton Bank. Past civic activities include the board, executive committee, and campaign chair of the Darien United Way, as well as board member and chair of the Center for Hope.
A native of Darien and a town resident for the past 18 years, George is a graduate of Union College and earned his law degree at Fordham University. He lives in Darien with his wife and three sons.
