As a dedicated public servant and community volunteer, Callie Sullivan become well regarded for willingness to take on and resolve tough issues facing Darien. In 2007, town residents showed their appreciation for her hard work by electing her to the Board of Selectmen. The victory was historic. Sullivan and her running mates, First Selectman Evonne Klein and Selectman David Bayne, became the first Democrats to win a majority on Board of Selectmen in the town's 187 years.

Callie first joined town government in 1999 as a member of the Darien Representative Town Meeting. Elected Chair of District 2, Callie also became a member of the RTM’s Finance and Budget Committee, where she followed the Board of Selectmen's budget. Representing her District 2 constituents who expressed concern about the dangers of truck traffic on Tokeneke Road, Callie worked tirelessly with local officials, including State Senator Bob Duff and Evonne Klein (right), to push the Connecticut DOT to ban truck traffic on Route 136 (Tokeneke Road). The truck ban went into effect on August 19, 2007.

Callie's community service includes producing Darien's successful application to the Connecticut Main Street Program, a cornerstone in promoting downtown revitalization. In another public-private partnership, Callie has been an effective voice on the Darien Task Force on Domestic Violence and the Domestic Violence Crisis Center, working with elected officials, police and social workers to protect families at risk.

As an Alternate on the Charter Revision Commission, Callie has helped the commission to assess the potential impact of changes under consideration. Callie is also an active member of the Darien League of Women Voters, where she has run many of the league's public education programs. The League of Women Voters honored Callie as their 2007 Volunteer of the Year.

A local business owner, Callie is president of Westwood Press, Inc., publisher of educational workbooks and professional journals. Callie resides in Darien with her husband Tighe Sullivan and their three children, who attend Darien public schools. She is a graduate of Williams College.
