Callie was elected to her first term on the Board of Selectmen in November 2007. She has made the continued support of the business community and the ongoing revitalization of the downtown and Noroton Heights shopping districts a priority. As a member of the Board of Selectmen Callie worked hard to secure a grant from the Darien Community and Technology Foundation to fund improvements to the Town’s website. The improvements have both increased the town’s ability to offer more services and created opportunities for the public to interact with Town Hall online. She spearheaded the call for a Board of Selectmen’s “Code of Conduct”, and served as the Board of Selectmen’s official liaison to the RTM Planning, Zoning and Housing Committee as it reviews the Selectmen’s Affordable Housing Draft Plan.
As a member of the first Democratically led Board of Selectmen in the history of Darien, Callie is most proud of the fiscally prudent budgets that this Board of Selectmen has presented to the Town. At the first signs of the economic crisis last fall, the Board of Selectmen stopped all capital projects to rein in spending, an action that has enabled Darien to weather the economic storm without laying off staff or reducing the level of municipal services, a testament to the leadership shown by this Board of Selectmen.
Callie has also been the Board of Selectmen’s representative on the Human Services Planning Council, a community-wide service bureau that seeks to fill the gaps for all in need in Darien. In 2008 Callie helped to introduce and promote C.A.R.E. Darien, a town-wide initiative that promotes Darien as a “Community of Accountability & Respect for Everyone.”
Callie first joined town government in 1999 as a member of the Darien Representative Town Meeting. Elected Chair of District 2, Callie also became a member of the RTM’s Finance and Budget
Committee, where she followed the Board of Selectmen's budget. Representing her District 2 constituents who expressed concern about the dangers of truck traffic on Tokeneke Road, Callie worked tirelessly with local officials, including State Senator Bob Duff and Evonne Klein (right), to push the Connecticut DOT to ban truck traffic on Route 136 (Tokeneke Road). The truck ban went into effect on August 19, 2007.
Callie’s community service extends to being an effective voice for the Darien Task Force on Domestic Violence and the advisory Board of the Domestic Violence Crisis Center, where she works with elected officials, police and social workers to protect families at risk.

A 13-year resident of Darien and a local business owner, Callie is president of Westwood Press, Inc., publisher of educational workbooks and professional journals. Callie resides in Darien with her husband Tighe Sullivan and their three children, two of whom currently attend Darien public schools. She is a graduate of Williams College.
