Robert Finke, Planning and Zoning Commission
Robert is a practicing attorney and a dedicated community volunteer. He was elected to serve on the Planning & Zoning Commission in November 2007, following an appointment in mid-2007 to complete the term of a resigning member. Although Robert is new to P&Z, his experience in real estate law and his service on other Town boards has enabled him to become quickly a respected and effective member of P&Z.
Prior to serving on P&Z, Robert was a member of the Darien Board of Assessment Appeals (1999-2007), which he served as Chairman. He was also a member of the Darien Parks and Recreation Commission (1996-1999). Mr. Finke is actively involved with Noroton Presbyterian Church in Darien, where he served as an Elder from 2001-04.
Robert practices law in the areas of corporate law, real estate, trusts and estates and litigation. In 2000 he formed his own law practice, with offices in Darien, Connecticut and New York City. Representative clients include real estate developers, restaurateurs, religious organizations and publishers.
Robert began his legal career as law clerk for Hon. William J. Lavery, then of the Connecticut Appellate Court. Subsequently he joined as an associate one of the oldest Stamford law firms, practicing in litigation, commercial transactions and real estate. In 1998, Robert became associated with a New York firm practicing in medical malpractice and product liability defense.
Along with his wife and three children, Robert lives in Darien, Connecticut. He is a graduate of the University of Washington with a B.S. in physics and Quinnipiac University School of Law, with a J.D. magna cum laude.
